Inktober & Fall Retrospects

Hello, dolls and gents! The month of October is over, but the memories are still reasonably fresh. So it is time to give my Inktober impressions. If you have no idea what the heck an Inktober is? It is a wonderful challenge within the art community, held every October. The challenge? During the month of October: draw something every day. Draw it in ink. Doesn’t have to be grand.  Just do it (swoosh sound!). Seemed simple enough… but nope.  Apparently not for me. My first venture into the world of Inktober was a fantastic fail!

Here are my meager offerings (reposted from my Instagram @hellodesertdoll)

In retrospect, October couldn’t have been a worse month to do this. I have multiple family birthdays (including my own), my anniversary, and usually, a ramped up school schedule during this month. This year, I tacked on family visits and planning a major school event. I never had a chance. Next time, maybe I do the whole challenge in November instead?  Pairing an art challenge with Halloween does make for terrific content ideas.  But logistically, it is a nightmare.  What do other artists do?  Just sacrifice social obligations?  I do wonder.  Maybe everyone else is just faster and more confident in their skills than me.  I am a work in progress.

On another note. I didn’t even step onto my yoga mat all month. That is truly scary. I can’t remember a time when I haven’t practiced in more than a few days.  It has to be some kind of record for me. Spooky indeed.
